Public Telephone Recovery Team in Action

With news of an original wooden public telephone cabinet being offered to the museum, a team of volunteers prepared for difficult task of a back yard recovery from a private residence. There were no dogs present but many other obstacles and challenges confronted the team before it was safely collected from Caloundra and transported to the museum workshop for some repairs. The unit served customers in this area for many years and will be an invaluable addition to the telecommunications collection at the Nambour Museum

The cabinet is all tied down for the road home but there are still some fence repairs to be completed.   It might look like an undertaker's scene from an old western as the body is returned for examination and preparation.

Railway Crane Recovery Team in Action

The Nambour Museum was informed that it could retrieve an old crane from the Cooroy railway yards but this particluar crane was old and heavy and mounted high above the ground on a large concrete turret. Nevertheless, an enthusiastic team of volunteers jumped at the challenge and after much hard work the crane has found a new home at the museum. Some additional work is required before it can be modified and erected as a working unit in conjunction with the railway exhibition.
